Chakra Journey: Ajna Chakra or The Third Eye Chakra
Ajna Chakra is our sixth energy center, located in the space between the eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, perception, and clairvoyance. This chakra is considered the seat of the higher mind and spiritual awareness. Its name, Ajna, means “command” in Sanskrit, reflecting its role in guiding perception and understanding beyond the physical.
The third eye chakra is the sixth of the seven main chakras:
Muladhara, Svadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna, and Sahasrara.
Ajna is linked to the pineal gland, which regulates circadian rhythms and is connected to the production of melatonin. The awakening of this chakra corresponds to an expansion of consciousness and the ability to see beyond material limitations.
There is a soft voice that lives within you.
It doesn't shout, it doesn't demand.
It only whispers with certainty, when you choose to listen.
Characteristics of the Ajna Chakra
This sixth chakra is symbolized by the OM symbol resting atop an inverted triangle, centered within a circle and flanked by two lotus petals. The mantra associated with Ajna is “AUM” or “OM”, often chanted during meditation to activate and harmonize this energy center.
Ajna is associated with the color indigo, a tone that evokes depth and wisdom. The OM symbol represents the primordial sound of the universe, and its placement above the triangle inside a circle suggests a balance between the divine and the earthly, between knowledge and manifestation.
When the Ajna Chakra is balanced, we experience a deep connection with our intuition and inner wisdom, allowing for a more profound perception of reality.
Signs of a Blocked Third Eye Chakra
A blocked Ajna Chakra may manifest in physical, mental, and emotional symptoms such as:
Mental confusion
Difficulty making decisions
Frequent headaches
A constant feeling of being “lost”
Disconnection from intuition
Important Note: If these symptoms persist, it is essential to consult a medical professional. Energy and physical health go hand in hand.
How to Activate the Third Eye Chakra
There are many ways to activate Ajna Chakra. The most common and effective include regular yoga practice, meditation, and positive affirmations (which we’ll explore more below). In the Evo Collective we have practices that directly help to balance our third eye chakra, meditations you can do daily.
Here are other practices you can incorporate into your daily life:
Stimulate Your Senses: Essential oils such as peppermint, sandalwood, hyssop, turmeric or ravintsara help open the path to sharper perception.
Dream Journaling: The pineal gland is especially active during sleep. Keep a dream journal. What you dream can often reveal the insights you need to hear.
Connection with Nature: Walk barefoot. Gaze at the sky. Listen to the wind. Intuition awakens when we lower the volume of the world and raise the volume of the soul.
Conscious Nutrition: Include foods rich in antioxidants, magnesium, and tryptophan—such as blueberries, spinach, nuts, seeds, and natural dairy. Reduce processed foods and caffeine, which can cloud your mental clarity.
Meditation for Ajna Chakra
Meditation is a foundational practice for opening and balancing the third eye.
Try this simple routine:
Sit quietly and bring your attention to the space between your eyebrows.
Visualize a bright violet light radiating through this area, nourishing and awakening the chakra.
Internally repeat or chant the mantra OM 108 times.
Third Eye Chakra Affirmations
Positive affirmations are powerful reminders of our inner potential. They help us keep a positive mindset, increase self-confidence, and strengthen our decision-making clarity. Here are some you can use daily:
“I trust my intuition to guide me.”
“I see my spiritual path clearly.”
“My mind is open to universal wisdom.”
