Chakra Journey: Solar Plexus

We’ve already talked about the two main chakras within us, reminding us that each of us is made up of seven energy centers that flow down the body to the base of the spine. Each chakra plays a unique role in our mind and soul, depending on whether the energy is flowing freely or if there’s a blockage.

Today, we’re diving into the third chakra, known as Manipura or the Solar Plexus Chakra (also called the "Navel Chakra"). This energy center acts as the powerhouse of the body, fueling our confidence, willpower, and inner strength.

In this guide, I’ll share everything about the Manipura Chakra, what it represents, how to recognize when it’s off balance, and the powerful tools like affirmations, meditation, and yoga poses that can help you realign and step into your power.

Every time you choose to trust yourself, every time you act from a place of confidence instead of fear, you are reigniting the sacred fire of Manipura. Your light does not depend on external validation but on the deep knowing that you are strong, capable, and enough, just as you are.

Yoga Poses that Stimulate Manipura Energy

The element of the Manipura Chakra is fire, and there is no better source of energy than the sun itself to rekindle our inner strength. Spending a few minutes in its light, whether practising Sun Salutations (surya namaskar) or yoga postures (Asanas) that activate the solar plexus, helps to restore emotional balance and awaken self-confidence. Here are a few options that you can do in your day:

Bow Pose (Dhanurasana)

Dhanurasana, also known as Bow Pose, is a yoga inversion that provides an intra-abdominal massage to the various organs of the digestive system, particularly the liver and pancreas. The stimulation of the Solar Plexus in this pose contributes to digestive efficiency and the elimination of waste and toxins from the body.

Half Spinal Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana)

Ardha Matsyendrasana, or Half Spinal Twist, is a gentle yoga twist that stimulates the digestive system, liver, and gall bladder. Regular practice of this Solar Plexus Chakra yoga pose promotes detoxification in the body and improves overall digestion.

Upward Plank Pose (Purvottanasana)

Upward Plank Pose, also called Inclined Plane Pose, is so effective and if you practice this Solar Plexus Chakra pose in a balanced yoga asana program, it can also help stimulate the Manipura Chakra and regulate the functions of your gallbladder, liver, spleen, and pancreas.

Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)

Incorporating this pose into your practice is an effective way to promote Solar Plexus Chakra healing, balancing the functions of your stomach, gallbladder, liver, spleen, and pancreas.

So the next time doubt or insecurity creeps in, remember this: the sun never stops shining, even when hidden behind the clouds. Your power is always there, waiting for you to claim it.

How to know if the Manipura Chakra is out of balance?

We can sense when our Manipura Chakra is out of balance, when we doubt ourselves, let the fear of others' opinions hold us back, or feel like we’ve lost control over our own lives. Sometimes, experiences like constant criticism, lack of recognition, or moments that made us feel small can dim our inner light and cause us to suppress emotions.

Stress, anxiety, and unprocessed emotions can also block this energy center, leaving us feeling stuck or unmotivated. Even our bodies send us signals, like digestive discomfort or a heavy sensation in the stomach, reminding us that our chakra needs attention. When the third chakra is in balance, you feel confident, self-motivated, and have a sense of purpose. However, when surrounded by negative energy, you can suffer from low self-esteem and have control issues. Imbalances can also cause fatigue, overeating, excessive weight gain, digestive system disorders, hypoglycemia, and diabetes.

Solar Plexus Chakra Affirmations

Words have power. What we say to each other on a daily basis shapes our perception. Our emotions and the way we connect with the world are deeply influenced by our thoughts. Affirmations are a powerful tool to reprogram limiting mental patterns and replace them with beliefs that strengthen our self-esteem and empowerment. By repeating them with intention, whether out loud, in our minds, or in writing, we activate new neural connections that help us internalize more positive and constructive thoughts.

  • "I trust myself and my decisions." : Confidence is a daily choice. Every step you take, no matter how small, moves you toward the life you desire.

  • "I feel motivated and aligned with my purpose." : Your inner fire fuels you to take action with passion and clarity.

  • "I am capable, strong, and worthy of success." : There are no limits when you recognize your own potential.

  • "I learn from my past without being trapped by it." : Every experience is a lesson that has made you wiser and more resilient.

Healing and strengthening this chakra isn’t just about repeating affirmations, practicing yoga poses, or doing breathwork. It’s a journey of self-discovery, where we learn to listen to our emotions, release the need to control external circumstances, and focus on the one thing we can truly manage: our attitude and energy.
