The Power of Breathwork: How to Reset in 5 Minutes

In the Chaos of Everyday Life, Your Breath Is Your Power

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we often forget that we carry a powerful and ever-accessible tool with us: our breath. In Kundalini Yoga philosophy, breathing is not just an automatic act; it is the key to unlocking our life force energy (prana), quieting the mind, and returning to our center.

Remember, a few minutes for yourself are never a waste of time.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, disconnected, or as if the world is moving too fast, there is a simple practice that can help you reset and it only takes five minutes of your day. You don’t need anything but your presence and the commitment to give yourself this space.

Right Nostril Breathing: Energy and Clarity

In yoga, the right nostril is connected to the solar channel (Pingala Nadi), which is associated with action, heat, and mental clarity. That’s why there are breathing techniques designed to energize you, helping you gradually move out of states of fatigue or release accumulated emotions.

How to Practice It:

  1. Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight.

  2. Use your  left thumb to close your left nostril.

  3. Place your right hand in Gyan Mudra and relax it ontop of your right knee

  4. Inhale and exhale slowly through your right nostril only.

  5. Do this for 3 to 5 minutes.

  6. Release your hand, breathe naturally, and observe any changes in your energy.

  7. Use your rleft thumb to close your left nostril.

  8. Use your left thumb to close your left nostril.

  9. Place your right hand in Gyan Mudra and relax it on top of your right knee

  10. Place your right hand in Gyan Mudra and relax it on top of your right knee.

This practice is especially ideal in the morning, as it’s the moment when everything begins, when clarity is more accessible to you, and it’s easier to connect with your vital energy.

Remember, when the mind is scattered and stress takes over, long and deep breaths become an anchor that brings us back to the present. On a deeper level, they remind us that, despite the external noise, there is a place of calm within us that we can balance and return to.

This breathing technique activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to release tension, reduce anxiety, and bring you back to your center.

An Act of Self-Love

Taking five minutes to breathe consciously is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. It’s a reminder that amidst all the external movement, you have the power to pause, nourish yourself, and shift your energy at any moment.

When we breathe with intention, we allow ourselves to return to our essence. We become more present, more aligned, and more open to receiving life with clarity and gratitude.

So today, I invite you to try it. Five minutes, a quiet space, and your breath. You’ll realize that within you, there is always a place you can return to your own being.
