Chakra Journey: Sahasrara – The Crown Chakra of Consciousness

At the top of our head, where the spiritual transcends the physical, lies Sahasrara, the seventh chakra, also known as the Crown Chakra or Center of Cosmic Consciousness. It is the chakra of universal wisdom, pure spirituality, and the sacred “I Am.” Keep reading, because I’ll share more about this powerful chakra and offer some yoga and meditation practices to help enhance its energetic flow.

The Center of White Light

Sahasrara is the most subtle of all chakras. It is associated with the color white or violet and represents enlightenment, transcendence, and divine connection. This energetic center is also considered the point of return to the physical body in astral travel, and some recognize it as the level of the soul, where body, mind, and spirit align with the Divine.

When Sahasrara is in balance, we experience a profound release from suffering, an expansion of consciousness, and an intuitive understanding that everything is One.

When the Crown Chakra Is Blocked

When the crown chakra is blocked, various symptoms can arise on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Some of these include mental fog, lack of purpose, feelings of isolation, sleep disturbances, and spiritual disconnection. A lack of desire to explore spirituality and the absence of inspiration are also common signs of a blocked Sahasrara.

On our journey through life, we often seek a deeper understanding of our purpose and a connection beyond the ordinary. The Crown Chakra is a guiding light that reveals the path and unveils the mysteries within us.

It is the highest point of the body and acts as a bridge between our physical self and the spiritual realm. By learning to connect with this chakra, we can expand our perception and experience spiritual awakening.

A Practice to Unblock the Crown Chakra

Meditation is widely practiced for its ability to balance the seven chakras, fostering self-awareness, emotional regulation, and relaxation. If you feel blocked or out of alignment, try this simple meditation sequence:

  • Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight and your feet grounded.

  • Place your hands on your knees in a "mudra" position, palms facing up.

  • Close your eyes, inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth.

  • Continue breathing slowly and steadily as you imagine the petals of your Crown Chakra unfolding.

  • Visualize a white light surrounding the crown of your head and gradually spreading through your entire body.

  • Open your eyes after 5 to 10 minutes and remain in stillness for a few moments.

Below, We share several balancing techniques you can practice to unblock and balance this energy centre.

How to Activate the Crown Chakra

As the final of the seven main chakras, its opening is often the result of inner work done on the previous six. However, you can also work on Sahasrara individually. Here are a few practices to help activate it:

  • Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors. Nature holds an energy that can help harmonize and awaken Sahasrara. Walk barefoot on the earth, feel the breeze, and allow natural energy to flow through you.

  • Meditation: This is key for unblocking the Crown Chakra and cultivating inner silence.

  • Mantra: The Sanskrit sound or mantra associated with Sahasrara is “Aum,” pronounced A-u-mn, though it’s commonly known as “Om,” a natural abbreviation. This mantra represents the “sound of the universe” or the “original vibration.”

  • Mudra: Practice the Dhyana mudra during meditation. Rest your hands in your lap, palms facing up, with the left hand underneath and the tips of your thumbs gently touching, forming a bowl of stillness and receptivity.

If you feel called to explore this path further and practice some of the poses mentioned above, we invite you to join our Sacred Radiance Experience Retreat in Tulum, Mexico. 5 Asanas for the Crown Chakra

Certain yoga poses can support the activation of the Crown Chakra. Here are a few, ordered by level of difficulty:

1. Balasana (Child’s Pose)

2. Sasangasana (Rabbit Pose)

3. Halasana (Plow Pose)

4. Matsyasana (Fish Pose)

5. Sirsasana (Headstand)

As you can see, the Crown Chakra plays a crucial role in our spiritual connection and understanding of the universe. When we pay attention to its qualities and recognize the signs of imbalance, we can actively work toward opening and harmonizing this energy center. This leads to an expanded state of consciousness and a deeper connection with the Divine.

I trust that this information resonated with you and inspires you to keep nurturing your well-being from the inside out. Remember, every path is unique, and the most important thing is to discover what truly nourishes your body, mind, and spirit. I invite you to keep exploring, learning, and connecting with what brings you balance. I’d love to hear how your journey unfolds!
